The town of Dudley lies to the south of Wolverhampton and is the largest town in the Black Country.
Due to its industrial past, the whole area around Dudley is criss-crossed with canals, most of which are still in use and can be enjoyed from the comfort of a narrowboat or by simply walking the towpath. The town also has a number of museums dedicated to local history that are well worth a look, such as the Black Country Living Museum.
One of the town's foremost industries used to be glass-making and, even today, there are a number of glass manufacturers in operation in Dudley. Several of these glass factories offer tours of their works, as well as the extensive range of unique glass- and crystal-ware that is available in the gift shop.
